A 6-week bootcamp to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of games production through participation, quizzing industry professionals and working on a live project.

Working with the NextGen team participants will create their own board games and understand the key concepts of concepting, pre-production, development, submission, release and post-release with a team of industry experts..

WEEK 2: PRODUCTION METHODOLGIES

An outline of different methodologies and then a more in-depth look at Agile with industry expert Steve Stopps. An introduction to everyone's live projects.

Jumping Off the Plane

WEEK 3: THE TEAM; DEVELOPMENT ROLES

Whilst continuing on with the live project and indie developers. We introduce the development team, coders, artists, animators, designers, audio, narrative designers, performance capture. Many roles go to make a game, this week you get to quiz them and understand how to work with them

WEEK 4: DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Continuing with the live projects, now we consider that Games need to be tested, translated, maybe we do some audience focus testing, check how accessible they are. Experts are available to be quizzed about all these aspects as we apply what we have learned to our live projects.

WEEK 5: PUBLISHING AND AWARENESS

Making a game is only half the story, a game needs to find its audience so here we examine release management, storefronts, marketing, PR, influencers and live ops. Everything is reflected back to our live projects.

Public Demonstration

WEEK 6: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOMENT

Focusing on networks, linkedin and CV, employer interviews and last but no means least a reflection of what we have learned and a celebration.
